Caponnetto Hueber, the innovation laboratory and technology consultancy specialized in fluid dynamics and efficient design for the nautical industry, officially an-nounces the launch of the BGF45, a revolutionary hydrofoil catamaran developed for Bluegame, a brand of the Sanlorenzo Yachts group, world leader in the yachting sector.
The BGF45, recently tested in open waters, has shown exceptional results in terms of energy savings and navigation comfort in significant wave conditions (up to 30% reduction in con-sumption and optimal behavior even in rough seas and speeds exceeding 30 knots).
This project represents a qualitative leap toward a more sustainable, agile, and technologically advanced design, aligned with the future vision of the Sanlorenzo group and with Caponnetto Hueber’s commitment to redefining the standards of 21st century navigation.
The BGF45 will be officially launched worldwide at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival, taking place from September 9 to 14.
From the America’s Cup to the nautical industry
It was in 2005 when Mario Caponnetto and Francis Hueber, experts in hydrodynamics and pioneers in the use of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) in nautical design, arrived in Valen-cia as part of the design team of an America’s Cup syndicate, a competition that would take place in the city in 2007.
After winning two editions of the trophy and collaborating with the most advanced teams in the world, they founded Caponnetto Hueber in 2017 with the goal of bringing the technological ex-cellence of the America’s Cup to the commercial nautical industry. Since then, the company has consolidated its position as an active part of the America’s Cup legacy and as a driver of innova-tion in the global maritime sector.
This vision has been embraced by leading shipyards such as Bluegame, which recognize the stra-tegic value of integrating advanced simulation and efficient design into their innovation pro-cesses.
Engineering excellence applied to real products
We are proud to demonstrate how cutting-edge engineering can be successfully applied to real products that reach the market. The collaboration with Bluegame on the BGF45 shows that ad-vanced design and fluid dynamics can generate tangible value in terms of performance, comfort, and sustainability, said Mario Caponnetto, Technical Director of CH.
A new vision for navigation
With the BGF45, we are redefining the future of yachting: efficient, sustainable, comfortable, and accessible. Our mission is to create yachts that inspire modern yacht owners, people who want to share their passion for the sea with family and friends, while at the same time embracing the responsibility to respect and protect our oceans. Together with Bluegame, we are proving that advanced naval architecture can deliver performance, enjoyment, and a conscious transi-tion toward a more sustainable future of navigation.
– Francis Hueber, General Manager, Caponnetto Hueber
The launch of the BGF45 consolidates Caponnetto Hueber as one of the leading drivers of mari-time innovation in Europe, reaffirming its mission as Maritime Innovation Boosters: trans-forming yacht design through efficiency, sustainability, and vision.
